Good questions
Pest control without the fog.
Preparation, products, reservice, billing, and availability should be understandable before a technician arrives.
Service area and availability
Do you offer pest control near me?
If you are in Greater Austin, most likely yes. Bugged serves seventeen named cities across Travis, Williamson, and Hays counties — Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Leander, Kyle, Buda, Hutto, Manor, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Dripping Springs, Taylor, Liberty Hill, San Marcos, and Del Valle — and homes nearby are reviewed by the office rather than rejected automatically. Check your ZIP on the service-areas page for an immediate answer, or send the address and we will tell you plainly.
What if my address is outside the cities you list?
Send it anyway. The ZIP field routes the request; it is not a rejection rule. Nearby Greater Austin addresses are reviewed by the local team, and if we genuinely cannot reach you we will say so rather than leave the request open.
How soon can someone come out?
Call or text for the current appointment window at your address. Mark urgent concerns in the estimate request for office review. Availability is confirmed by the team; Bugged does not promise same-day or 24/7 service.
What makes Bugged a premium pest-control service?
Premium service means care for your home and respect for your time: on-time visits, professional technicians, thorough inspections, and targeted treatment. Arrival updates, service photos, and clear notes keep you informed, with your local team just a call, text, or in-app message away.
Communication and the Bugged app
How will I know when my technician is coming?
Your scheduled service day and visit details are in the Bugged app and in the customer portal at portal.buggedpest.com, so you can see them without installing anything. We send a reminder the day before, then an en-route notification when the technician is heading your way. While live tracking is active, the app shows the current ETA so you are not left guessing.
Do I have to install an app to be a customer?
No. Everything routine—your visits, service records, estimates, invoices, and referrals—is in the customer portal at portal.buggedpest.com, which opens in any browser on any device. The Bugged app adds notifications and live technician tracking on a phone, but it is an option rather than a requirement, and the phone number works whether or not you use either one.
How will I know what was inspected or treated?
Your visit record is designed to show what happened, not just that someone stopped by. Depending on the work performed, it can include before-and-after photos, areas inspected or treated, useful service notes, and the next steps discussed for the home.
What should I expect from a Bugged technician?
Expect professional, courteous conduct and respect for your home. We give a realistic arrival window, send an en-route update, and show the current ETA when tracking is active. Your technician explains what they found, what they recommend, and any preparation or follow-up that applies. Completed work is documented in the Bugged app with useful notes and, when relevant, before-and-after photos. If timing changes, the local team is available by phone, text, and in-app support rather than leaving you to chase an automated status.
Can I reach a real person?
Yes. Call or text the same local Bugged number, or use in-app chat once you are a customer. Technology should make the relationship easier to follow—not replace access to the team when you need a conversation.
Before the visit
Do I need to identify the pest myself?
No. Select every concern that looks close, or choose “Not sure? Let us help identify it.” Add where you found it and what you noticed. The inspection—not a guess from a menu—confirms what is happening and what the property needs.
Does someone need to be home?
That depends on where the activity is occurring and whether interior access is needed. We explain the planned access before the visit. Exterior-only work may not require someone inside, while kitchen, attic, bedroom, or plumbing concerns usually require coordinated access.
What should I do about pets, gates, and access?
Tell the office about pets, locked gates, shared spaces, and any access restrictions before the visit. Arrange access to the agreed inspection areas and secure pets as instructed. Wait for the preparation and re-entry directions that apply to your service; the team confirms whether someone needs to be home.
How should I prepare my home?
Preparation depends on the pest and treatment. You may be asked to provide access, move items away from a specific area, secure food or pet items, or follow pest-specific directions. Wait for the instructions that apply to your service rather than doing a broad clean-out unnecessarily.
Treatment and safety
How do you actually solve the pest problem, not just spray?
Service starts with an inspection that identifies the pest and the conditions supporting it. From there the work combines what the situation calls for: targeted treatment where the activity is, exterior perimeter and harborage work, exclusion of entry points where practical, monitoring, and written guidance on the moisture, food, and clutter conditions that keep pests coming back. Recurring visits keep pressure down after the first problem is handled.
How do I know the treatment was done well?
Every visit is documented. Depending on the work performed, the record can include before-and-after photos, the areas inspected and treated, the conditions found, and the next steps for the home. If covered pests come back, so do we, at no extra charge.
How do you decide what products or methods to use?
The choice follows the pest evidence, location, property conditions, and applicable product directions. The goal is a targeted plan that addresses the source and contributing conditions—not a one-size-fits-all application.
Is treatment handled carefully around children and pets?
Yes—by placement, product choice, and instructions rather than by slogan. Tell us about children, pets, aquariums, gardens, sensitivities, and other conditions before service. The technician evaluates the site, chooses placements and methods that fit an occupied home, follows product-label directions, and gives you any preparation or re-entry instructions that apply. We do not make blanket “safe” claims about pesticides—the label directions and the instructions your technician provides are what govern.
What is being applied, and when is it safe to go back in?
Ask, and the technician will tell you the product, where it is going, and why that placement—and can show you the label on the spot. The areas inspected and treated are listed in your visit record afterward. Re-entry is the label's decision rather than ours: the technician gives you the interval that applies to your visit before leaving, along with anything to keep covered, put away, or keep pets off. Many interior spot placements only need the treated surface to be dry; some exterior and specialty applications need longer. Tell us about children, pets, aquariums, and gardens beforehand and the placements are chosen around them. If you lose the instructions, call or text and we will repeat them.
What happens when the weather changes?
Weather can change the timing, location, or method of exterior work. The technician follows the product label and actual site conditions. If rain, wind, heat, or access would compromise the planned service, the team explains the adjustment rather than pretending conditions do not matter.
Will one treatment solve every pest problem?
Not necessarily. Results depend on pest biology, infestation level, access, structural conditions, sanitation, moisture, and follow-through. Bugged explains what one visit can reasonably accomplish and when monitoring, exclusion, preparation, or recurring service is part of the solution.
Plans, estimates, and follow-through
What happens if I still see pests after treatment?
Some activity can continue while treatment and follow-up take effect. Note where and when you see pests and contact the team so we can review the visit record and next step. For covered pests, Call us and we’ll come back at no extra charge.
How does plan pricing work?
HiveGuard starts at $66 a month for a qualifying single-family home. Applicable tax is additional. Total lot size determines the recurring rate; existing pest issues may affect your quote. Cinctra yard treatment is included. The quote confirms the initial-service fee and any one-time work. The estimate is free, with no charge during signup.
Why am I billed monthly if visits are quarterly?
Monthly billing spreads the recurring plan payments across a twelve-month agreement with four scheduled visits: initial service, then approximately months 3, 6 and 9. Visits and payments follow different schedules; applicable tax is additional.
When will my first payment be charged?
Authorize payment at signup without a charge. The quoted initial-service fee and first monthly payment are charged after initial-service completion. Uninterrupted renewal has no additional initial fee; cancellation followed by re-enrollment starts a new enrollment with its quoted initial fee.
What is included, and what requires a separate estimate?
Common household pests including ants, spiders, roaches, crickets, earwigs, and silverfish, plus 31 more pest types. Cinctra yard treatment is included in your plan.. Garage and accessible crawlspace treatment. Rodent monitoring and accessible wasp-nest assessment. Priority service coordination. Termite treatment, bed-bug work, seasonal mosquito service, active rodent trapping, exclusion, and unusual access require a confirmed estimate. Your written scope determines what is included; submitting a request does not authorize additional work.
Am I locked into a contract?
Your twelve-month agreement includes four scheduled visits: initial service, then approximately months 3, 6 and 9. Authorize payment at signup; the initial-service fee and first monthly payment follow initial-service completion. Continuing charges are monthly plus applicable tax. Renewal includes advance notice and no additional initial fee for uninterrupted service. The estimate itself is free.
What happens if it does not work?
Covered pests come back? So do we. Call us and we’ll come back at no extra charge.
How do I cancel a recurring plan?
Call or text the office to arrange cancellation under your signed agreement. Effective cancellation followed by re-enrollment starts a new property enrollment with the quoted initial-service fee. Payment retries or a rescinded future cancellation do not restart the enrollment.
Pest-specific questions
Do you handle wasps, hornets, and yellowjackets?
Bugged accepts residential requests involving paper wasps, bald-faced hornets, yellowjackets, and other stinging-insect activity for assessment. Nest location, species, access, and risk determine the next step. Bees require careful identification and may call for relocation or an appropriate bee specialist rather than the same approach used for a wasp nest.
What should I do if I find winged insects or mud tubes?
Avoid disturbing the evidence if you can. Take clear photos, note where and when you found it, and request an assessment. Winged ants and termite swarmers can look similar, while mud tubes or damaged wood require structure-specific inspection before anyone recommends treatment.
Is rodent work only about setting traps?
No. A useful rodent assessment looks at evidence, food and water, travel routes, openings, roof or garage access, and conditions around the structure. Trapping can be one part of the response, but monitoring and practical exclusion guidance are often just as important.
